spawning tips for demasoni

Postby steve0o09 » Wed Apr 25, 2007 7:41 pm

i have got about 13 demasoni in a 55 gallon tank. 3 males and 5 females, plus 5 others that arent old enough to spawn yet so i dont know their sex.

i was wondering if you had any tips on getting them to spawn? i havent had one spawn for me for over 2 months now!!! in the past, last summer, they were spawning non stop and i was having about 20 fry each time. now im lucky if when they occasionally do spawn, to get 4 fry outta them. is there anything you know of to kick start them to spawn for me??????

thanks
steven

Hi Steven,

I think that it is pretty typical that groups go thru phases where they spawn like crazy and then you may have a few months that they don't. Sometimes I think it is seasonal and there are some fish that do breed seasonally in the lake, not sure if Demasoni is one or not. But either way, don't give up, spring is here, increase you water changes, give them food treats, and hopefully they will pick it back up again.
