Postby Cricket68 » Mon Feb 06, 2006 9:59 pm

Hi Pam,
This is my first time trying to breed cichlids. I have a yellow lab that is holding and have put her alone in a nursery tank(20 gal.)
My question is how long will she hold these eggs before she releases the fry.
I have been looking for info. on this all over the computer, :? would really appreciate your help.

Hi Cricket,

The females hold for approximately 21 - 28 days. So this should give you some time to prepare. You will need to figure out what you are going to feed your new fry. Freshly hatched baby brine is going to be best. Also be aware that your female may eat her own fry, so don't leave them together, there is no parental care.

Congrats on the spawn!!!!
