Flowerhorns?

Postby Fish Guy » Sun May 09, 2004 2:53 pm

I was wondering what a common flowerhorn looked like? I don't mean the $400 ones I mean the ones I might be able to get for $12.

Hi Matt,

Flowerhorns are a hybrid, and hybrids are frowned at in the hobby. In my opinion they aren't worth two cents! When we buy fish like this we are just encouraging this outrage to continue.

As a responsible hobbyist we want to make sure that the cichlids we work with are pure strains. Many of the natural habitats for cichlids are deterioating fast, we don't know how long wild stock will be available. Not too mention the logistics of shipping from 3rd world countries, it is getting to be very expensive as well as dangerous.

Sorry to get on the soapbox, but I want to make sure you know this is a manufactured cichlid, save your money and buy a real cichlid!!!
